Bio
| Background: | Kacey Eichelberger, MD FACOG holds the Samaritan Biologics Endowed Chair of Obstetrics and Gynecology and serves as Executive Medical Director of the Women's and Children's Care Divisions at Prisma Health. She is a Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Greenville, where she previously served as Department Chair from 2019 to 2025. Board-certified in Obstetrics & Gynecology and Maternal-Fetal Medicine, she completed her undergraduate degree at Duke University, earned her MD at the Medical University of South Carolina, and completed her residency (serving as Administrative Chief Resident) and Maternal-Fetal Medicine fellowship at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She later completed a Certificate in Leadership & Management through the Wharton School. Dr. Eichelberger is a nationally recognized voice in maternal health equity and perinatal substance use disorder care. She founded and directs the Magdalene Clinic, a trauma-informed prenatal care program for pregnant people with substance use disorders and has served as site Principal Investigator on multiple federally and privately funded research initiatives, including studies through the NICHD Maternal-Fetal Medicine Units Network and PCORI. Her scholarship, reflected in more than 50 peer-reviewed publications, addresses disparities in maternal morbidity and substance use disorder treatment in pregnancy. She is a Liberty Fellow of the Aspen Global Leaders Network and a recipient of the McNulty Foundation Catalyst Prize. Dr. Eichelberger has received the CREOG National Faculty Award five times and holds numerous honors for teaching, research, and mentorship. She currently serves on the South Carolina Medicaid Advisory Council and the State Maternal Health Task Force, and maintains a longstanding commitment to physician leadership, health equity, and transforming maternal health outcomes. |
