Carolina Food Co.’s T-Coop Starbucks garners honor

Group earned 'team of the quarter' from Starbucks Co.

The Thomas Cooper Library location of Starbucks garnered the honor of being named “Team of the Quarter” out of 146 stores in the southeast region by Starbucks Coffee Co.

The library location, the first full-service Starbucks on the University of South Carolina campus, opened in the spring of 2018 and quickly rose to this top ranking, according to Starbucks’ internal metrics.

“We are so pleased with the success of the Starbucks in T-Coop,” said food service director Andrea Glantz. “Our team works so hard to provide the Gamecock family an outstanding dining experience, and we are thrilled that it is being noticed by the Starbucks brand.”

For the fall, Carolina Food Co. has a pair of updates for the campus community.

  • Tavolino, a made-to-order pasta concept on the first floor of the Russell House that debuted in the spring, will be a permanent addition to the setup. It occupies the former Olilo by Cat Cora space and received rave reviews during its spring run.
  • Spice Asian Kitchen also joins the Grand Marketplace on the Russell House first floor. Spice will go into the former Pei Wei spot.

Students can sign up for meal plans for the 2019 fall semester through the Self Service Carolina portal.
