Controller’s Office earns Excellence in Financial Reporting award

National certification highlights Controller's Office's work

The University of South Carolina controller’s office captured the certificate of achievement in finance reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada.

The university controller’s office garnered the certificate, the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and finance reporting, for its comprehensive annual financial report. South Carolina’s CAFR was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users to read the document.

“This award is a reflection of the dedication of the controller’s office staff to the commitment to being good stewards of the university’s financial resources and ensuring the highest integrity in financial reporting,” university controller Mandy Kibler says.

The Government Finance Officers Association services the needs of over 20,000 appointed and elected local, state and provincial-level government officials and other finance practitioners. The university has garnered this recognition every year since 2013.
