Parking and Transit Update for Fall 2020

Find out about some changes that have come to campus parking

Parking and Transportation Services has a few changes in store for the campus community as students, faculty and staff return to campus this fall. Here's some answers to common questions this fall.

Permits

Q: Where do I get my permit?

A: Permits can be purchased online through the Parking Portal.

Q: How much will permits cost?

A: Student surface lot is $110; student garage parking is $400 per semester.

Q: How can I show I can legally park on campus until my permit arrives in the mail?

A: You may place a printed verification on your dash for a limited time until your permit arrives. Here are three ways to get that verification:

  1. Print your receipt at the time of purchase
  2. Print the email confirmation of your purchase that you receive
  3. Print confirmation from the Parking Portal at sc.edu/parking. Select 'Permits,' then 'View your permits' to print a confirmation.

Q: Can I pick up my permit in the Parking Services office like prior semesters?

A: For 2020-21, all permits will be mailed following your online order at sc.edu/parking.

Q: Where do I place my permit on my vehicle?

A: All permits should be placed in the rear window on the driver's side (left side when looking at your bumper). More information is available at our website.

Parking Lots

Q: Are there any changes in the parking lots for the fall?

A: The main changes are around Colonial Life Arena:

  1. AD3 will be re-located to the opposite side of Gadsden St. nearer to the Colonial Life Arena. It will be available for Any Decal parking for the fall semester.
  2. The Gadsden Devine Lot (formerly AD3) will operate with limited access to specific, credentialed students.

Also, the Barnwell St. lot (AD7) is expanding to allow more parking for all of the campus community.

Garages

Q: How does physical distancing affect garage capacity?

A: Garages will operate as they normally do. Vehicle capacity will not be affected.

Q: What changes will be made to Bull St. Parking Garage?

A: The changes are as follows:

  1. Bull St. Garage will have fully functional automated gates at both entrances to Level 4, Gate 3.
  2. Hourly parking entrance will be across from Student Health Center.
  3. Pay options for hourly parking will be available at pay-on-foot kiosks on Levels 5 and 6 as well as the pay booth on Level 4.
  4. Face coverings and social distance practices should be observed when paying for hourly parking in Bull St. Garage.

Shuttles

Q: At what capacity will shuttles be running?

A: Shuttles will operate under physical distancing guidelines with limited seating (ex: 15-passenger limit on 40-passenger bus) and per campus policy, a face covering is required. Face coverings and hand sanitizer will be available on each bus. Additional buses may be added to support passenger volume.

Q: Will the shuttles run the same routes as a typical semester?

A: Yes. Shuttle routes will operate as usual, with service beginning at 7 am on the West Campus route and at 7:30 am for the rest of the routes.
