Garnet Media Group excels in collegiate media awards



Garnet Media Group took home three first-place Associated Collegiate Press Pacemaker awards and four College Media Association Pinnacle awards over the weekend. These awards are given to the nation’s best collegiate media entries.

Student Gamecock Television (SGTV) earned three first-place Pinnacles, including best video special event coverage and best audio newscast. Hannah Perala of SGTV also won a Pinnacle for creative audio and film festival.

The Daily Gamecock earned Garnet Media Group’s fourth Pinnacle for best column written by Ian Greiner. 

Along with its three Pinnacles, SGTV took home a Pacemaker for Ward Jolles’ COVID-19 package. Garnet and Black also won a Pacemaker for Zhane Bradley and Emily Schoonover’s “Retro Renegade” magazine cover.

Garnet Media Group won a Pacemaker for the best newspaper special section/advertising in The Daily Gamecock’s Best of Carolina 2021 edition.

Besides its seven first-place awards, Garnet Media Group was honored in other categories as well. SGTV won 10 top-three awards and WUSC won two top-three awards.

The Daily Gamecock placed second among four-year daily newspapers in the Pinnacle competition.
