University of South Carolina employees have a chance to make a difference this April by donating to the university’s annual United Way of the Midlands campaign. All proceeds from the campaign will go directly to causes and outreach being done in the local community.
The impact: Just last year, over 3,200 individuals were provided emergency shelter through programs supported by the United Way of the Midlands while over 4,800 people received important medical care through United Way of the Midlands services and grant making.
Senior Resources’ Meals on Wheels program, through support from United Way of the Midlands, served 214,772 meals to 1,416 seniors in Richland County.
About the campaign: The campaign will run from the beginning of April through May 8. Faculty and staff can donate through the United Way of the Midlands website. There are options for a payroll deduction over four pay periods or a one-time payroll deduction.
What they're saying: “As a former student athlete I know exactly what it means to come as you are and leave as you’re meant to be. I’m doing the work that I set out to do when I first came to Carolina nad I want to help future gamecocks do the same.” — Antonio Sales, USC alumnus and philanthropy officer at United Way of the Midlands
