Students say 'thank you' to Carolina's Promise donors

Rachel Battocletti believes it's important to give back to the community. That's why she's majoring in elementary education so she can teach one day in the inner cities.

But her life's ambition couldn't be realized without donors to the Carolina's Promise campaign. Battocletti is among the 87 percent of students who rely on financial assistance to pursue their academic goals. Last year, approximately 40,000 alumni and friends gave $116 million to Carolina.

Since Battocletti also knows the importance of saying thank you. She's helping the  group, Students Promoting the University's Reach for Success (SPURS) organize a Donor Appreciation Day. SPURS members will have locations around campus on Thursday (Nov. 13) where students can stop and write a thank you card to donors. Tables will be set up at the following locations:

  • Darla Moore School of Business, 10 a.m.- 2 p.m.

  • Davis Field near Greene Street, 10 a.m.- 2 p.m.

  • Honors Residence Hall, 10 a.m.- 2 p.m.

  • School of Music, 10:30 a.m.- 2:30 p.m.
