Friday, May 6

University of South Carolina alumnus and former chairman of the board of trustees William Hubbard addressed graduates at the university's largest-ever commencement ceremony with more than 2,000 graduates. Over the weekend, more than 4,000 graduates would be celebrated in ceremonies at the Columbia campus of the state's flagship university.

Saturday, May 7, (9:30 a.m. ceremony)

Timothy Keating, senior vice president of government operations for the Boeing Co., spoke to graduates of the South Carolina Honors College and the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of South Carolina. USC Upstate alumna Rosa Eugene and her husband, Winton, received honorary degrees at the ceremony. The two are famous for the elegant, functional pottery they make in their Upstate studio.

Saturday, May 7, (3 .m. ceremony)

David Seaton, a Carolina alumnus who serves as chairman and CEO of Fluor Corp., one of the world's leading and largest engineering, procurement, construction and maintenance services companies spoke to graduates of the College of Education, the College of Engineering and Computing, the College of Hospitality, Retail and Sport Management, the Fort Jackson Military Base Program, Interdisciplinary Programs, Palmetto College, the School of Music and the College of Social Work.
