Moral issues confronting men and women in contemporary society. Topics will vary but may include discussion of problems related to abortion, drugs, euthanasia, war, social engineering, and punishment of criminals. CL: 2020.
Notes:
The aims of this course are to introduce students to the subject of moral philosophy and to promote critical reflection about key moral concepts, moral arguments, and contemporary moral issues through discussion and written work. Some of the moral issues we are likely to consider include abortion, capital punishment, genetic engineering, health care, environmental ethics, warfare, and global justice. Requirements will include participation, quizzes, essay exams, and short papers.
