**This course is open to all Honors students.**This course will pursue the exciting study of the relentless pursuit to understand and interpret Shakespeare's greatest play, King Lear.The course has three primary objectives: (1) Students will actively participate in a close reading of the play described as "a mountain whose summit has never been reached;" (2) Students will develop a deeper understanding of the relationship between a great work of literature and a fascinating theatrical experience; and (3) Students will be exposed to a variety of contemporary works of theater, film, and literature made fertile by the creative imagination behind Shakespeare's triumph.
