The School of Medicine is pleased to announce that Jon Crain, assistant director of Facilities and Support Services, is the recipient of the 2020 William C. Gillespie Staff Recognition Award. 

Named after William Gillespie, a former employee in the Office of Administration and Finance, the award recognizes an outstanding staff member at the School of Medicine whose work performance stands out as an example for all to emulate. A committee of peer staff members from clinical, research, and administrative areas selected Jon as this year’s recipient.

Jon joined the School of Medicine in 2009. While he has always provided exemplary service in his role in the Facilities Department, he has definitely gone above and beyond the call of duty during the COVID-19 pandemic. He has enthusiastically met each and every challenge to ensure that protective equipment is available for our students, faculty, and staff. He responds to crises at night and on the weekends, takes initiative and ownership of all requests, and drops what he is doing to assist our employees and students at any time. Jon is very deserving as this year’s recipient of the William C. Gillespie Staff Recognition Award.

He will receive the award on Thursday, Oct. 8, 2020 from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. at the virtual ceremony recognizing the Alumni and Dean’s Distinguished Service Awards recipients via WebEx.
