Genetic Counseling program appoints Whitney Dobek as new program director

The USC SOMC Genetic Counseling program has appointed near decade-long program veteran, Whitney Dobek as its newest program director.
 

The University of South Carolina School of Medicine Columbia Genetic Counseling Program has announced the appointment of Whitney Dobek, MS, CGC as the program’s newest director effective July 1, 2023.

Dobek has been with the Genetic Counseling Program since 2014, most recently serving as the assistant director of curriculum and as a course instructor and thesis research advisor.

Since receiving her master’s degree in Genetic Counseling from University of North Carolina Greensboro, her clinical work has included prenatal and cancer genetic counseling.

Dobek also contributes to several committees focused on clinical practice (Prisma Health Breast Leadership, Prisma Health Cancer Committee), graduate education (Curriculum, Admissions, and Graduate Committees), and in the national arena (Association of Genetic Counseling Program Directors Match Committee and the American Board of Genetic Counseling certification examination).
