University of South Carolina School of Medicine Students Awarded 2024 STFM Foundation Student Scholarships

Georgette Adae-Mensah, Joel Burt-Miller, MPH, MS; Kendall Dean, Haley Hirth, and Zachary Taylor medical students at University of South Carolina School of Medicine Greenville, has been awarded a 2024 STFM Foundation Student Scholarship from the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine (STFM) to participate in the 2024 STFM Conference on Medical Student Education. 
 
This highly competitive scholarship is awarded to some of the best and brightest medical students from across the country. In addition to recognizing a strong commitment to academic family medicine through scholastic, volunteer, and leadership pursuits, this award acknowledges the recipient’s strong potential for a career in academic medicine. Only 23 awards were given for 2024. 
 
Marisyl de la Cruz, MD, chair of the 2024 STFM Conference on Medical Student Education, added  “All STFM Foundation recipients receive free registration to attend and present a poster at the 2024 STFM Conference on Medical Student Education, scheduled for February 8-11, 2024, in Atlanta, GA 
 
Georgette Adae-Mensah plans to present a poster at the conference, titled: 11768 Gaining Perspective of Inclusivity from Family Medicine Acting Interns Abstract   
 
Joel Burt-Miller, MPH, MS, plans to present a poster at the conference, titled: I Realized I Was Not Alone”: Implementation of Ubuntu Groups to Reduce Burnout and Social Isolation in a Medical School   
 
Kendall Dean plans to present a poster at the conference, titled: Early Outcomes from a 3 year Longitudinal POCUS Curriculum at a Family Medicine Residency Program Prisma Health- USCSOMG   
 
Haley Hirth plans to present a poster at the conference, titled: Evaluating Medical Student Self-Efficacy towards Nutrition Education following Community-Based Experiences   
 
Zachary Taylor plans to present a poster at the conference, titled: Evaluating the need for POCUS training for diagnosis of DVT: current practices of a family medicine residency clinic
