Parking/transportation changes for spring 2020

Founders Park lot offline for spring, Greene Street Bridge construction takes some spaces away

Greene Street Bridge construction and spring events at Founders Park will change parking options for students, faculty and staff for the spring semester.

Richland County’s construction work for the new Greene Street Bridge is set to begin Jan. 20, providing campus with another direct connection to Huger Street. While construction takes place, there will be no parking on Greene Street west of Gadsden Street. In addition, metered parking on Gadsden between Greene and Devine streets maintained by the city of Columbia will be lost.

Campus community members who used the Founders Park grass lot in the fall will need to find alternate parking during the spring. That lot will be used exclusively for event parking until the fall semester; shuttles will not run to that lot during regular days. Overnight parking is not allowed at Founders Park.

Also remember that two lots, FS8 and S7, have closed permanently for the Campus Village project, which will add 1,800 new beds to campus housing.
