Possible Government Shutdown Later This Year May Affect Federal Research Funding Agencies
USC’s partners at Lewis-Burke Associates, a full-service government relations firm in Washington, D.C., have advised the university of a possible government shutdown later this year. This shutdown, which might occur in the fall/winter months of 2023, would affect federal research funding agencies. In the event of a shutdown, funding agency staff will likely be unable to communicate with grantees. So, USC researchers with federal funding are encouraged to reach out to program officers now, to address pending award actions or other considerations before any disruption occurs.
