SPARC Recipients Awarded

The overall objective of the Support to Promote Advancement of Research and Creativity, (SPARC) Graduate Research Grant is to provide support and to encourage outstanding students to pursue exciting research directions during their graduate career at the University of South Carolina.

The 2019-2020 SPARC Graduate Research Grant Recipients:

Ishwor Karki and advisor Dr. Ken Shimizu received a SPARC Graduate Research Grant for their project entitled, "Smart Solid Phase Extraction Materials based on programmable molecularly imprinted polymers."

Olivia Manley and advisor Dr. Thomas Makris received a SPARC Graduate Research Grant for their project entitled, "Identification of oxygenated intermediate species in dinuclear iron enzymes."

Steven Sloope and advisor Dr. John Lavigne received a SPARC Graduate Research Grant for their project entitiled "A New Approach to Synthesize Fully Conjugated Single-Crystal Covalent Organic Frameworks with Semiconductor Potential."
