The Joseph F. Rice School of Law is sharing the profile for the new 1L class of 2029. With a total of 2,122 total applicants, 547 were admitted, with 214 in the entering class. Out of the 214 enrolled, South Carolina residents made up 57.01 percent of the class with non-residents making up the remaining 42.99 percent.  

LSAT scores are higher than last year with an average of 164, and an average GPA of 3.77.  

Of the 214 students, 17 of the admitted class graduated from the South Carolina Honors College, and seven were Carolina Law Research Scholars.  

The students represent a wide range of 23 states across the country: South Carolina, North Carolina, Florida, Georgia, Texas, New York, Tennessee, Virginia, Colorado, Louisiana, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Utah, Washington, Alabama, Illinois, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, North Dakota, New Jersey, Ohio and Wyoming. Ireland was also represented this year.  

This year’s class comes from a wide variety of undergraduate schools, including in state schools such as University of South Carolina-Columbia, Clemson, Wofford, Furman and College of Charleston. Out of state schools are represented by Florida State, University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, University of Georgia, University of Florida, University of Virginia, Dartmouth and the University of Notre Dame.
