Background

Kinli Abee currently serves as the Prosecution and Law Enforcement Senior Resource Attorney for the Children’s Law Center. After graduating Wofford College in 2008 and obtaining her law degree from Charlotte School of Law in 2011, she began her career in prosecution with the Seventh Circuit Solicitor’s Office in Spartanburg, SC.  She prosecuted a wide variety of offenses ranging from property crimes to offenses against children.  In 2013, she joined the South Carolina Attorney General’s Office in the Criminal Prosecution Division, focusing on crimes committed against children. In 2023, she became the Assistant Deputy Attorney General over that division.  In her capacity at the Attorney General’s Office, she prosecuted hundreds of crimes across the state.  In 2015, she secured the first human trafficking conviction under South Carolina state law. In 2024, she secured a conviction in a 1986 no-body homicide. In 2024, she received the Ernest F. Hollings Award for Excellence in State Prosecution. She has also been recognized for her work by receiving the Prosecutor of the Year Award by the IAFCI Carolina’s chapter in 2015, the Palmetto Center for Women’s Honor in Government and Law Enforcement in 2016, 20 Under 40 by the State Newspaper in 2018, and 30 under 30 by Columbia Business Monthly in 2020. She graduated from the SC Bar’s Leadership Academy in 2018.
