Background

Cordelia Cooper serves as the Court Liaison for Richland County.  She assists the family court by tracking and expediting the legal processing of child protection and termination of parental rights (TPR) cases. She is responsible for reviewing case files, preparing information sheets for the court, and assisting in resolving issues to prevent delayed hearings. Prior to joining the Children’s Law Center, she was a Quality Assurance Review Coordinator with the South Carolina Department of Social Services where she supervised the South Carolina Child and Family Service Reviews of County Child Welfare programs. She also served as a Program Coordinator for the South Carolina Department of Social Services and Richland County Department of Social Services, and Human Service Supervisor with the Working Together Project, a Service Coordinator with the South Carolina Department of Environmental Control BabyNet Program, and a Social Services Specialist with Richland and Williamsburg County Department of Social Services. In 2009, she received a Certificate of Appreciation for Contribution to South Carolina Child and Family Services Review. She holds an M.A. in Human Resources Development from Webster University and a B.A. in Social Work from Benedict College.
