Background

Brenda J. Myers is a Mandated Reporter Trainer for the Children’s Law Center. Her primary responsibility is to train professionals who are mandated by state statute to report abuse and neglect of minor children. Brenda provides training and technical assistance to various organizations and disciplines including: school district personnel, counselors, childcare personnel, medical personnel, service providers, faith-based organizations, and other professionals upon request.  Her extensive background of the state regulations allows her to enhance the knowledge of mandated reporters on reporting the maltreatment of minor children while making them aware of state statutes that provide guidance and protection for mandated reporters as well as provide for the safety and well-being of all children.

Brenda previously served 10 years as the State Coordinator of the McKinney-Vento Homeless Education Program at the South Carolina Department of Education in the Office of Youth Services. She also served as a Paralegal at the Richland County Department of Social Services 11 years. In addition, Brenda has worked as a caseworker in the Child Protective Services and Medicaid divisions at the South Carolina Department of Social Services. She is a graduate of the University of South Carolina, where she earned a degree in Sociology with a concentration in Government International Studies.
