Biography

Demetria Thomas serves as the Court Liaison for Lexington, McCormick and Saluda counties. She assists the family court by tracking and expediting the legal processing of child protection and termination of parental rights cases. She is responsible for reviewing DSS case files, preparing information sheets for the court, and assisting in resolving issues to prevent delayed court hearings. Previously, she worked as a Counselor I with the South Carolina Vocational Rehabilitation Department where she assisted eligible South Carolinians with disabilities to achieve and maintain competitive employment. Prior to her employment with Vocational Rehabilitation, she worked as a Foster Care Worker with the South Carolina Department of Social Services where she provided case management for foster children while ensuring their educational, medical, and emotional needs were being met while in the custody of the state of South Carolina. Demetria earned a Master of Arts in Professional Mental Health Counseling from Webster University and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Elementary Education from Clemson University.
