Research Centers and Facilities
The College of Pharmacy is a leader in cutting-edge pharmacological research, contributing
to the advancement of the industry, providing an elite training ground for the next
generation of researchers and, most importantly, transforming the lives of millions
of people who rely on effective medication and treatment for a variety of diseases.
As part of a research institution of the highest caliber, the College of Pharmacy
continues to attract exceptional research faculty who dedicate themselves to helping
people by using research to develop more effective drugs, evaluate existing drugs
and improve patient care.
We conduct research in a variety of focus areas and receive additional support through four on-site centers and facilities that provide
access to the technology and collaborative knowledge necessary for significant pharmacy
advancements and scientific breakthroughs.
Research Centers
SmartState Center for Translational Cancer Therapy
Director Igor Roninson, Ph.D., is internationally recognized for cancer research,
including his study of multi-drug resistance in cancer and chemotherapy-induced senescence
in tumor cells. The Center for Translational Cancer Therapy provides a platform for
the discovery and development of cancer drugs.
COBRE Center for Targeted Therapeutics
Simply stated, targeted therapeutics research aims to develop new and more effective
classes of drugs against various diseases. Directed by Igor Roninson, Ph.D., the Center
for Targeted Therapeutics also includes three resource cores and supports research
projects led by junior faculty members.
SmartState Center for Medication Safety and Efficacy
Along with his team at the Medication Safety and Efficacy Center, Charlie Bennett,
M.D., Ph.D., MPP, is studying ways to make drug information more consumer-friendly
and creating new training tools for healthcare providers.

The following core facilities are sponsored in part by the COBRE Center for Translational
Cancer Therapeutics:
