"As a UofSC freshman, I knew almost nothing about national fellowships or the process, and at first, I was a little intimidated by the idea of an office for applying to fellowships. But the national fellowships team quickly put me at ease! It was amazing to have a group of people who already knew the details and how everything works, and they helped me in so many ways. They helped me with my weakness in logistics; having a team to help navigate applying to things made it feel doable. They also helped me improve how I wrote about myself and shared stories. Writing about yourself is hard! Many drafts, many conversations, but each time the team helped me improve and find out what wasn’t working so that I could end up with an application that I was proud of and shared more about me. "
