A Smarter Start at USC

Beginning in early December, USC is rolling out improvements to make the onboarding process smoother, faster, and more welcoming for new faculty, staff, and student employees.

With the launch of preboarding tools, new hires can now complete select onboarding tasks as soon as their hiring proposal is approved, eliminating the need to wait until the first day. This early access helps employees feel prepared, informed, and connected before they even arrive on campus.

USC is also introducing an onboarding assistant, a built-in artificial intelligence guide designed to answer common questions and provide real-time support throughout the process. Supervisors will also benefit, gaining access to the assistant, along with updated onboarding checklists that clearly outline key steps before and after a new employee’s first day.

These enhancements reflect USC’s commitment to providing a consistent, supportive, and streamlined onboarding experience for every new member of the university community.
