The University of South Carolina invites applications and nominations for the position of Director of Faculty Affairs.  Time commitment/effort is 50% of a 12-month appointment and is negotiable. The Director reports to the Vice Provost and Dean of the Graduate School.  The position will work closely with the Office of the President, the Committee on Named and Distinguished Professorships and the University Committee on Tenure and Promotions.

The Director will manage the tenure and promotion, tenure progress review, and post-tenure review processes for UofSC Columbia. This includes providing annual training and providing support to academic units; preparing, editing and proofing summary documents; and managing the updating and revision of academic unit tenure and promotion criteria.  The Director will also provide similar support for appointment, promotion, and criteria review for research and clinical faculty; manage the appointment and review process for appointments with tenure or rank of professor and for named professors and endowed chairs; and provide support for the grievance process including, but not limited to, the reconsideration of the file on all administrative levels (i.e. Provost and President) and providing support for the Faculty Grievance Committee as needed.  

The successful candidate must be a professor with tenure and have a deep understanding of the tenure and promotion and other faculty-related policies. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.  Faculty from all institutions of the USC system are encouraged to apply.
