USC launching new supply chain certificate program to help South Carolinians with career advancement

The University of South Carolina will offer a Certified Supply Chain Certificate training program beginning in early 2023.

The certificate program is an opportunity for individuals working in the supply chain industry to increase their knowledge and expertise in the field of supply chain management, while also preparing to earn the nationally recognized APICS CSCP credential.

“Taking the initiative to further your education shows you’re making time to invest in yourself and make yourself a well-rounded, knowledgeable professional,” said Hilary Dyer Brannon, director of Continuing Education and Conferences at South Carolina. “It makes you that much more valuable to any company or organization.”

The training consists of 13 sessions lasting 3 hours each and covers eight modules over 6.5 weeks. The first class will be taught by a master-level instructor, giving participants the benefit of learning from, and networking with, an industry expert.

Participants will gain the knowledge and skills necessary for upper-level management positions in supply chain activities that involve an understanding in the areas of supplier and customer relations, international trade, and the use of information technology to enable the supply chain. The certificate earned through the CSCP program will give them “industry recognition and credibility” as they take the next steps in their careers, said Associate Director of Professional Education Kendrick Reed.

“Our mission is to add value in the marketplace. We are very excited to offer an additional program under our professional education umbrella and to expand the offerings for South Carolinians and those in the region who are interested in growing their career,” said Brannon.

The program is open to individuals with three years of supply chain experience, a bachelor’s degree or international equivalent, or one of the following designations: CPIM, CLTD, CTL, CIRM, SCOR-P, CPM, or CPSM.

Military members, senior citizens and USC alumni, students, faculty and staff will receive a 10 percent discount for registering.

Registration for the 2023 Feb. 13 - March 27 and June 5 - July 24 sessions is now open.
