Academic Common Market

Billing Frequently Asked Questions

What will my bill look like once I am approved for ACM?

Academic Common Market students are billed as non-residents, for non-resident tuition. Once a student is fully approved for ACM, they receive a credit equal to the difference between non-resident and resident tuition.

When will ACM appear on my account?

After initial approval, the ACM tuition credit will appear 24 hours after a student has registered for classes (once bills are posted to accounts).

Can I receive the ACM tuition credit for past semesters?

The USC ACM Office does not apply the ACM tuition credit for semesters underway or completed. ACM Certifications must be received by USC ACM deadlines for each semester in order to be approved.

What should I do if I sign up for classes the same day that the bill is due?

Contact the USC ACM Office at (803)777-0300 if you sign up for classes the same day the bill is due, so that your bill can be adjusted immediately.

Will the ACM tuition credit pay for my study abroad experience?

Unfortunatly, as the ACM tuition credit only covers course work taken at USC-Columbia, it will not cover your study abroad experience.

I have a University-granted scholarship and ACM. Can I get both?

Most scholarships awarded by USC are made up of two parts: an award amount (example, $500 annually), and a tuition reduction.

USC will not “stack” tuition reductions.

Academic Common Market is a tuition reduction. If you have been awarded a scholarship that includes a tuition reduction and have also been approved for ACM by USC, you will receive the award amount from the scholarship, and the higher of the two tuition reductions. This is always the ACM tuition reduction.

I have a non-University granted scholarship and ACM. Can I get both?

Yes, your non-USC scholarship should be credited to your account along with your ACM tuition credit.

I'm a Kentucky resident with an ACM Certification. When will I get my KEES funds?

Please contact your KEES Coordinator to confirm, however, KEES funds are usually disbursed approximately a month after school starts.

I have a question which is not covered by the ACM Billing FAQs. Where will I find an answer to this question?

Please visit the Bursar's Office page for information on refunds, billing, payment plans, 529 plans, and more. Visit the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarship's page for information regarding student loans and scholarships
