Apply for a 2021 Transformative Research Seed Grant

The Transformative Seed Grant initiative aims to advance the collaborative research relationship between UofSC and Prisma Health to pursue new and innovative research that improves health. Proposed projects should focus on improvement of health system performance, population health or biomedical science that translates to clinical practice and improved patient outcomes. For this collaborative seed grant initiative, the project must include an investigative partnership between a University of South Carolina Columbia faculty employee and a clinical collaborator from Prisma Health. Funding for the pilot grants will be provided by the UofSC Vice President for Research, the UofSC School of Medicine Columbia, the UofSC College of Pharmacy, the UofSC College of Nursing and the UofSC College of Engineering and Computing. Projects may be funded up to $20,000, and applicants may request a project period of 15 months. Complete details, including the Request for Applications, are available on the program’s application website. Letters of intent are due by Monday, December 7, 2020.

 

Reminder: 2021 ASPIRE I Q&A sessions coming up in December

The application period for 2021 ASPIRE proposals is now open. ASPIRE I proposals are due on Thursday, January 21, 2021, and proposals for ASPIRE II and III are due on Thursday, February 25, 2021. Faculty and postdocs planning to submit ASPIRE proposals are encouraged to attend a virtual Q&A session to help them prepare the proposal package. The first ASPIRE I Q&A session is coming up on Thursday, December 3, at 2:00 p.m. On Tuesday, December 15, there will be a Q&A session focusing on ASPIRE I Track 2B for postdoctoral scholars at 2:00 p.m. Complete application materials, ASPIRE I Q&A session details and registration are available on the ASPIRE program webpage.

 

Weekly Research Update to feature monthly new awards report

The Office of the Vice President for Research is pleased to announce a new feature for the Weekly Research Update, the RESDEV mailing list and the office’s website. Each month, we will share a report listing all new sponsored awards received by principal investigators throughout the University of South Carolina in the previous calendar month. This week, we kick off the new feature with the October 2020 New Awards Report.

 

The Weekly Research Update will be on hiatus for the next three weeks. We will be back on Thursday, December 10, 2020.
