UofSC Vice President for Research, Prakash Nagarkatti, to chair national EPSCoR/IDeA Foundation Board

Earlier this spring, the EPSCoR/IDeA Foundation Board elected Prakash Nagarkatti as the new board chair for a term of two years. Through this prestigious new role, Nagarkatti will have the unique opportunity to help promote and steer national programs that support research in U.S. states and territories that have historically received less federal research and development funding. SMART summer mentorship funding program applications due June 9

The Office of the Vice President for Research encourages faculty members who plan to mentor under-represented minority students this summer to apply for SMART funding. Through this program, UofSC faculty (all campuses, all disciplines) who mentor under-represented minority students during the summer receive a supplement of $1,000 per student, for up to two students. This support can be used toward summer salary for the mentor (faculty member, postdoctoral fellow or graduate student), research costs and/or salary for the under-represented minority undergraduate student. 2021 ASPIRE Grants invest in the UofSC research community

The Office of the Vice President for Research is pleased to announce the 2021 recipients of Advanced Support Programs for Innovative Research Excellence, or ASPIRE, funding. UofSC faculty researchers submitted a total of 170 proposals to the ASPIRE programs this year. The proposals were reviewed by faculty review committees appointed by the Vice President for Research, and 102 were selected for funding. Read more about ASPIRE and the 2021 grant recipients.
