Year-end deadlines to be aware of…

  • The RISE program is open to faculty working at USC Aiken, Beaufort, Upstate, and Palmetto College campuses. Applications for RISE are due Wednesday, December 20, 2023. Informational sessions have passed, but there is still time to learn more about RISE. Please reach out to Julie Morris at jamorris@mailbox.sc.edu with questions. 

 

January & February deadlines to prepare for…

  • University of South Carolina Libraries is pleased to announce the inaugural Graduate Student Data Visualization Award competition. Submissions are being accepted until Friday, January 5, 2024. Judging will take place in January 2024 with the award(s) being announced and presented during Love Data Week 2024 (Valentine's Day week). For eligibility and other requirements, please review the award web page
  • Magellan Scholar grants offer undergraduate students a funding opportunity for research, scholarly and creative projects. The grants may be used for student salary, research materials and supplies, and related travel. Undergraduate students from all USC campuses and disciplines are eligible to apply. The spring deadline for Magellan Scholar is February 7, 2024, by 5 pm. Reach out to the Office of Undergraduate Research, our@sc.edu, with any questions. 

 

Notable news on the horizon… 

  • Look forward to Discover USC, which will be held at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center on Friday, April 19, 2024. Registration will open for presenters and reviewers on Monday, January 29, 2024.
  • Get a sneak peek at emerging USC Research Institute news: Matt Irvin from the College of Education recently appeared on the STEM Lab podcast, a production of the Governor’s School for Science and Mathematics. Listen as Dr. Irvin discusses the impact of his research and leadership with the Institute for Rural Education and Development here and tune in for more Research Institutes news next week.
