It was a spectacular Give 4 Garnet event on Wednesday, May 18, and through your generosity, the College of Pharmacy raised $112,162 from 87 pharmacy alumni, 39 college faculty and staff, and 22 students, parents, family members and friends. The College finished in second place among schools and colleges for total dollars raised and finished in ninth place for the number of individual donors.
Donors designated gifts to multiple College of Pharmacy funds including the Carolina Fund, General Scholarship Fund, Dean’s Circle Fund, Student Organization Support Fund, Faculty Services Support Fund, and White Coat Fund. Recognized gifts ranged from $5 to $50,000.
Together, we are strengthening our college and having a positive impact on the lives of our future pharmacists. I could not be more grateful.
Julie M. Sease, Pharm.D. Interim Dean, College of Pharmacy
Several donors were inspired to add to existing named endowment funds, and one donor couple, alumna and Interim Dean Julie Sease and her husband John Dennis, were inspired to establish a new named scholarship endowment. The John L. and Julie Sease Dennis Endowed Scholarship Fund was created after being “unlocked” by the college’s first 100 donors.
“Thank you for supporting the College of Pharmacy and for supporting what we do each and every day for our students,” says Sease. “We would not be able to accomplish all that we do without the generosity of our alumni, donors, and friends. Together, we are strengthening our college and having a positive impact on the lives of our future pharmacists. I could not be more grateful.”
The first UofSC Give4Garnet was held April 18, 2018, to bring together alumni, students, faculty, staff and friends in support of funding priorities of UofSC colleges, schools and units. The online giving campaign lasts for 18 hours and 1 minute (18:01) in honor of the year the university was founded.
