The University of South Carolina College of Pharmacy's Continuing Education program has received full reaccreditation for six years from the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education, coinciding with ACPE's 50th anniversary of its provider accreditation program.
"We are committed to supporting our internal and external partners. Each year, we accredit more than 100 CE activities, ranging from faculty-developed programs supported by grant funding to offerings from the Kennedy Pharmacy Innovation Center and to large multi-day conferences," says James Anderson, director of USC's continuing education program.
The six-year term represents the maximum period available and reflects the program's excellence in professional development. USC joins more than 280 organizations globally maintaining ACPE accreditation.
"These activities extend both in and out of South Carolina, broadening our reach and strengthening the visibility of the college," Anderson says. "Our logo appears on brochures, program materials, instructions for claiming credit, and other documentation—amplifying brand recognition and reinforcing our reputation for high-quality, consistent educational programming."
The reaccreditation ensures that the college’s continuing education offerings meet rigorous standards for content quality, educational methodology and assessment. This designation allows the college to provide accredited continuing education credits that pharmacists and techs need to maintain their professional licenses.
“Our annual conference is open to all pharmacists and pharmacy technicians regardless of whether they have ties to the university,” Anderson says. "Our program also offers specialized development programs tailored to our college's preceptors and provides both preceptors and alumni with discounted registration for the conference."
