About
Program: PGY1 Community-Based Pharmacy Residency
Location: Prosperity, South Carolina (Newberry County)
Background: Founded in 1895, Prosperity Drug Company has been a trusted healthcare resource for the Prosperity community for more than 125 years. From its early days of housing both a pharmacy and a physician’s office under one roof to its role today as a modern, patient-centered community pharmacy, Prosperity Drug has continually evolved to meet the needs of the communities it serves. Today, Prosperity Drug operates two locations, one in Prosperity and another in Batesburg-Leesville. This footprint allows us to serve a diverse patient population across rural South Carolina while maintaining the personal, relationship-based care that has defined our pharmacy for generations.
Our long history and continued growth provide a strong foundation for an innovative pharmacy residency experience focused on accessible, high-quality, personalized care. Residents have the opportunity to work directly with patients, develop meaningful pharmacist–patient relationships, expand their clinical skills, and gain hands-on experience across multiple community pharmacy settings. As a growing rural residency program, Prosperity Drug Company offers residents the opportunity to take an active role in developing clinical services, pursuing innovative ideas, and making a measurable impact on the health of the community. Here, residents are not simply observers—they become an integral part of the pharmacy team and have the opportunity to help shape the future of community pharmacy practice.
