Weekly Research Update Special Edition: USC Research Institutes

Over the next four years, the University of South Carolina will invest $10 million in five new interdisciplinary research institutes through the Research Institutes Funding Program, an initiative sponsored by the offices of the USC President and the Vice President for Research. Each institute leverages leading minds in various USC departments to address challenges in cardiovascular health, rural education, water quality and more across the Palmetto State.

The Office of the Vice President for Research has launched new website homes for each of the five USC Research Institutes funded by the Research Institutes Funding Program

Each institute’s sharp new website is featured on a centralized home page, providing visibility and easy access to the latest news and innovations from the USC Research Institutes. Learn more about how each institute will use its dynamic, multidisciplinary approach to foster new avenues of support for South Carolinians’ health, economy and education. 

 

USC Research Institutes in the news…

  • Listen as education professor Matt Irvin discusses the impact of his research and leadership with the Institute for Rural Education and Development on the STEM Lab podcast, a production of the Governor’s School for Science and Mathematics. 
  • Public health assistant professor Melissa Nolan’s research through the USC Institute for Infectious Disease Translational Research aims to understand the transmission of West Nile Virus and Lyme disease from mosquitos and ticks. Her collaboration with the University of El Salvador opens prospects for international research, expanding the already impactful work happening in Columbia.
