Rising Senior Receives New Scholarship

A dance performance junior has received the first Harris and Patricia Pastides Outstanding Senior Dance Award.

Elaine Miller, a rising senior Dance Performance and Choreography major, has been selected as the first recipient of the Harris and Patricia Pastides Outstanding Senior Dance Award.

The award is given to a rising senior majoring in Dance Performance and Choreography who "best exemplifies the special characteristics of scholar, leader and elite artist in the field of dance."  The recipient is further designated as one who is "an innovative as well as academic thinker," "a leader in the dance program and artistic community," and "active in service activities."

Miller is a native of Matthews, NC, and has performed in several USC Dance Company concerts since joining the dance program.  She most recently performed in George Balanchine's Who Cares? and Raymonda Variations during the 12th Annual Ballet Stars of New York Gala Performance in March, 2017.

"This scholarship is a wonderful gift," says dance program Artistic Director Susan Anderson, "which allows a special and talented dancer the opportunity for summer study in dance in a world class environment such as the Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet."

Congratulations, Elaine!
