Professor Jim Hunter has been announced as the Vice-President/President-Elect of NAST, the National Association of Schools of Theatre.

Professor Jim Hunter was elected Vice President of the National Association of Schools of Theatre at their national conference, held March 16-18, 2017.   Professor Hunter shall become the President of the association without further election in March of 2020.

Founded in 1965, the National Association of Schools of Theatre (NAST) is an organization of schools, conservatories, colleges, and universities with approximately 187 accredited institutional members. NAST has been designated by the United States Department of Education as the agency responsible for the accreditation throughout the United States of free-standing institutions that offer theatre and theatre-related programs (both degree- and non-degree-granting), including those offered via distance education. The Association is a member of the Association of Specialized and Professional Accreditors.

Prior to election as Vice President, Professor Hunter served six years as a member of the NAST Commission for Accreditation and an additional three years as Chair of the Commission and Member of the Board of Directors.   He has served regularly as a Visiting Evaluator for membership reviews since 2007.
