Background

Sam Todd serves as associate vice president and vice provost for Global Affairs. In this role, he supervises Global Carolina initiatives including the Education Abroad Office, International Student and Scholar Support, the International Accelerator Program, and the English Program for Internationals. As the university’s Senior International Officer, he will collaborate with other globally focused entities at the university such as Walker Institute, the Rule of Law Collaborative, Maxcy House, CIBER, and Global Leadership Distinction, with an ultimate goal of advancing and strengthening the university’s international signature. 

Prior to joining the Provost’s office, Dr. Todd served as Associate Dean in the College of Hospitality, Retail and Sport Management at USC for almost 8 years, wearing a wide variety of administrative hats including international affairs, faculty affairs, research administration, and internal operations.  

As a leader in international affairs, Dr. Todd has cultivated a wide variety of international activities involving faculty, staff, students, and partners across 18 countries. He has vast experience with international contracts, research collaboration, global classrooms, direct enrollment arrangements, joint and dual degrees, visiting scholars, and support services for international students. He has previously been directly involved in academic programming with partners in Aruba, China, Ecuador, Switzerland, Sweden, Ireland, Qatar, Taiwan, France, Peru, and Spain.
