The official University of South Carolina ring is one of the university’s most prestigious traditions. A time-honored expression of Carolina pride, it is recognized by Carolina alumni worldwide.
The ring is available in men’s and women’s sizes in precious metals including 10K,
14K and 18K solid white or yellow gold in several finishes. Students can customize
the side of their rings to denote the year and major or a dual major. Eligible students
can purchase their rings on campus at the Russell House during ring week.
Earning the Ring
The ring is a symbol that must be earned. The right to wear the ring belong to:
- Graduates and students who have achieved 60 credit hours or more
- Graduate students who have completed at least 50 percent of their coursework
Ordering Your Ring
Order your ring through the university’s official ring representative, Balfour. Order online or call 1-800-BALFOUR for assistance.
Students who order rings before or during ring week can receive their Carolina ring at the university’s official Ring Ceremony held on the historic Horseshoe each spring.
Carolina Ring Saver Program
This is a program that is offered to students to help assist in the purchasing of a University of South Carolina ring from Balfour. Funds are collected from the student and will be set aside to help spread out the cost of a ring over multiple semesters while attending UofSC. This program enables students to deposit a minimum of $25.00 per Fall and Spring semester into a special account with your CarolinaCard and is applied toward the purchase of your Carolina ring. To participate, students on the Columbia campus will select the amount each Fall and Spring semester using the CarolinaCard website.
Ringer Saver funds will be applied to the participating student account when the student becomes eligible to order their ring.
Refunds from the Ring Saver Account will be processed through the CarolinaCard website and according to the CarolinaCard refund policy.
