Why you chose to pursue a degree within the ASPH: I chose ASPH because its curriculum aligned closely with my values and my future goals as a physician. I did not want to spend my college years taking a heavy course load focused solely on science. Instead, the ASPH curriculum gave me the opportunity to explore public health and healthcare from a broader perspective, beyond anatomy, chemistry, and genetics. Through courses in community health, global health, and health economics, I have developed a much more holistic understanding of the factors that influence health and healthcare. The opportunities to study abroad and build meaningful relationships with professors and advisors were also major reasons I was drawn to ASPH. Looking back, my time at the University of South Carolina and the Arnold School of Public Health has been some of the most rewarding and memorable years of my life.

Advice for future students: Build connections with your professors starting your freshman year. You never know where a connection might lead! Most importantly, remember that your professors genuinely want to get to know you and help you succeed.

Challenge the conventional. Create the exceptional. No Limits.
