What you love about the ASPH: In high school, I was not exactly sure what I wanted to major in, but I knew I was interested in several areas, including health sciences, environmental science, economics, and psychology. Initially, I toured the Arnold School of Public Health for the Exercise Science major because I thought I might want to become a Physical Therapist. However, during that experience, I learned more about the Public Health B.S. program and realized it aligned exactly with my broad range of interests. I chose to pursue my degree within the Arnold School of Public Health because this program felt like the perfect fit for me. It offers a comprehensive and flexible approach to understanding health, allowing me to explore the connections between health, behavior, environment, and policy. Additionally, I was drawn to the close-knit environment of the school, where it feels like the faculty and staff genuinely care about each student and are invested in their futures. This supportive atmosphere, combined with the program’s versatility, confirmed that it was the right place for me to grow academically and professionally.
Advice for future students: My advice for future students is to remember that you get out of your school/university experience what you put into it. The effort you invest, whether it is in your classes, relationships with professors, or involvement in organizations, will directly shape what you gain in return. It’s important to stay engaged, ask questions, and be open to new ideas and experiences. I would also encourage students to take full advantage of the opportunities presented to them. Whether it’s internships, research projects, student organizations, or networking events, these experiences can help you grow both personally and professionally. Even if something feels outside of your comfort zone, trying it can lead to unexpected interests or career paths. Being proactive and willing to explore will make your time in school much more meaningful and rewarding.
