Research and Teaching Interests
Dr. Andrews’s research interests include the impact of the organization and financing of addiction treatment on service access; gender, racial and ethnic disparities in treatment service access; and adoption of medications to treat opioid use disorder. She is Principal Investigator of a five-year award from the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) to determine whether health homes for Medicaid beneficiaries with chronic health conditions are effective in identifying and treating addiction and reducing the need for and costs of acute care addiction-related conditions. Andrews is also a Co-Investigator on two additional studies: one focused on Medicaid managed care plan coverage for opioid use disorder medications, and another examining financing for opioid use disorder treatment prevention within the criminal justice system as part of NIDA’s JCOIN initiative.
