Faculty Apply UDL Principles Through Spring 2026 Short Course

A cohort of 24 faculty completed the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) in Practice Short Course in Spring 2026. This marks the second offering of the course and reflects continued interest in applying the UDL framework at the course level. Led by Mitchell Dallas Herring, CTE instructional designer, the course supported faculty in applying UDL principles to their teaching.

UDL is an evidence-based framework that encourages instructional planning to anticipate learner variability and reduce barriers to participation and success. The six-week, fully online, asynchronous course introduced key UDL concepts, including engagement, representation, and action and expression. Faculty reflected on their teaching practices, assessed learner needs, and developed plans to revise or design instruction that supports access and learning.

Upon completion, participants received a certificate recognizing their work applying UDL principles in course design and delivery.
