Mitchell Herring

Mitchell Dallas Herring is an Instructional Designer with the Center for Teaching Excellence. Herring earned an Ed.D. in Educational Practice and Innovation from the University of South Carolina, a M.A. in English: Composition and Pedagogy from the University of Maine, and a B.A. in English: Creative Writing from Anderson University. He collaborates with faculty and campus partners on various teaching and learning projects, such as digital accessibility, universal design for learning, and the Student Experience Project (SEP). Herring has prior experiences as a curriculum coordinator, English Instructor, and course coordinator for first-year writing, ENG 101, at Central Carolina Technical College. He is the current chair for the Southern Regional Faculty and Instructional Development Consortium (SRFIDC).  

Herrings’s other interests include:  

  • Growth mindset and feedback processes 
  • Integration of holistic support services in course design 
  • Team and community-based professional development 
  • Assessment design 
  • Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL)
