An additional security requirement will be added to university password management beginning Oct. 30, 2022. All individuals with a Network Username and password will still be required to change their password every six months. The new addition requires users to select a unique password that doesn’t match any password you have used in the system before. This is considered best-practice among cybersecurity professionals, and an extra measure to protect your personal, and university, data.
When you receive the email that it is time to update your password, continue to login to https://myaccount.sc.edu. After you enter a new password, it will be checked to makes sure it mees all previous requirements (a combination of lower and uppercase characters, one or more numbers, and/or one or more special characters), and that it is unique. If your new password meets all requirements, it will be saved and synchronized to both your Network Username and your VIP ID.
