The Education Administration Ph.D. program is an in-person, cohort-based program. The Ph.D. degree is offered in two program concentrations: CD-12 (child development-grade 12) education administration and higher education administration. Each prepares students for a variety of leadership positions in institutions and agencies related to the emphasis of their studies. Those earning the degree serve as college and university faculty, university administrators, school superintendents and principals, administrators in school districts and government agencies, and other related leadership capacities.

What kind of research will I do?
The Education Administration Ph.D. program is designed to emphasize educational research and inquiry, with a focus on addressing broader educational issues in administration. The program is designed to produce educational researchers, with graduates of the program serving in faculty and administrative roles. The Ph.D. prepares graduates to engage critically with research and theory related to education administration.
What will I study?
Students in the Education Administration Ph.D. program study will work closely with their advisor to construct a program of study that supports their chosen concentration. All students will take doctoral core courses and then specialize in a concentration area and delve deeper in multiple research methodologies and methods in consultation with their advisor and doctoral committee. Admission decisions for the Education Administration Ph.D. program are based on multiple indicators. The faculty of the program make recommendations for admission to the Graduate School.
