Ask me about...

Greek life, studying abroad and cultural organizations!

Hey! My name is Swarnim, and I'm a sophomore in the SCHC and the Darla Moore School of Business. Outside of class, I love hanging out with friends, trying new coffee shops, anything USC or just exploring Columbia. After graduation, I plan on going to law school to pursue a career in corporate law!

  • Hometown: Charlotte, N.C.
  • Major/Minor: International Business, Operations and Supply Chain Management | Spanish, Law and Society
  • Year: Class of 2029

Why I chose the South Carolina Honors College

When I was looking at schools, I knew I wanted the big state school experience, lots of school spirit, fun football games and that exciting campus atmosphere, but I thought I’d have to give up the small, personal class experience that I was used to in high school. When I visited USC, I immediately felt the community, and after my Honors info session, I knew this was home. I get all the amazing big-school moments, like being in Willy B on gameday, while still having the close-knit, holistic experience of the Honors College. It also helped that it’s not too far from home and has great weather!

My advice for prospective students: YOLO! College is your chance to try everything, and you’re never going to know if you love something unless you go for it! Take the random class, join that one club, apply for the opportunity and you might just find the thing you never knew you’d love!

Favorite question during an information session: How can I get involved on campus?

Definitely go to the fall and spring organization fairs if you’re looking to get involved on campus! They’re a great way to learn about all the clubs and orgs USC has to offer, and you’ll probably even find a few you never knew existed. Clubs are also always tabling on Greene Street, so don’t be afraid to stop by and say hi. It can feel intimidating at first, but putting yourself out there and trying new things is the best way to find the communities that really stick, and they can become some of the best parts of your college experience.

Favorite Honors class and why: Legal Storytelling with Jan Baker! We worked through a mock court case using evidence folders, then gave opening and closing arguments like we were actually in a trial. Our professor even dressed up like a judge, and we had a mock jury!
