Students take Maymester to Thailand

Chemical Engineering Research Professor Sirivatch Shimpalee and Civil and Environmental Engineering Assistant Professor Inthuorn Sasanakul led a Maymester to Thailand from May 10 - 25 that allowed students to experience Thai culture as well as learn about the country's sustainability efforts.

During the two-week Maymester, students traveled through six different provinces in the country and examined how Thailand is overcoming political, social, technical and economic issues in a sustainable way. To do so, students learned about the country's flood control measures, hydropower dams and other agricultural innovations.

In addition to visiting several agricultural and sustainability sites across the country, students visited Thai landmarks such as the Grand Palace in Bangkok and the former Thai capital of Ayutthaya and pet elephants in the Chiang Mai Province.
