College to host leaders from advanced nuclear company Antares

The Molinaroli College of Engineering and Computing will host four leaders from Antares, an advanced nuclear company, on Friday, February 6. The seminar will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. in Room 1A05 in the Swearingen Engineering Center and is open to students, faculty and staff.

The purpose of the seminar is to share Antares focus, goals, and missions with students and faculty. In addition, the leaders will discuss areas of interest for possible research and development engagement with faculty and graduate students as well as career opportunities for students. Following the seminar, there will be a 15-minute Q&A with students and Antares leaders, and individual discussion with students and faculty with the full Antares team.

Speakers

  • Tom Mancinelli, Head of Strategy & Policy – Mancinelli is the former acting under secretary of the navy and principal deputy assistant secretary of defense for legislative affairs. Mancinelli leads Antares’ policy and government affairs strategy, bringing senior-level experience and shaping national security policy.
  • Brad Rearden, Head of Reactor Deployments – Reardon leads the deployment of Antares reactors and builds defense programs, leveraging decades of hands-on leadership across national labs and commercial microreactor programs.
  • Matt Griffin, Head of Nuclear Affairs – Griffin previously worked on Kilowatt Reactor Using Stirling Technology (KRUSTY)/Kilopower at Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico. He oversees nuclear operations and Department of Energy and Nuclear Regulatory Commission engagements, ensuring Antares reactors move efficiently from design to compliant deployment.
  • Reuven Fridmar, Head of Talent – Fridmar previously worked as a technical and senior technical recruiter at SpaceX. He builds and scales Antares’ elite engineering and operations teams, drawing on deep technical recruiting experience from leading aerospace companies.

Antares is an advanced nuclear company developing transportable microreactor systems designed to deliver reliable, resilient, and carbon-free power for government, defense, and remote applications. Working to make nuclear energy more accessible, the Antares team brings deep expertise in reactor deployment, nuclear operations, licensing, and federal policy, while offering students a firsthand look at how next-generation nuclear systems move from concept to real-world deployment.
