Catalysis for Renewable Fuels SmartState Center

Description: The Catalysis for Renewable Fuels SmartState Center focuses on synthesizing inorganic catalysts for converting biomass to biofuels and synthesizing electrocatalysts for solar fuels and fuel cells. We study the chemical fundamentals of heterogeneous catalyst synthesis, typically single or bi-metal nanoparticles on oxide or carbon supports, with green chemistry applications such as biomass conversion and solar thermal energy.
