Why you chose to pursue you degree within ASPH: I chose a Public Health B.S. degree because of the opportunities the degree provides. While I am not sure my long-term career goals, I know I want to work in a field improving healthcare. A degree in public health provides skills and experiences that are valuable in a wide range of fields. A Public Health B.S. degree allows students to gain a strong foundation in science, while also exploring health care systems as a whole and engaging in systems thinking to analyze community health. The wide variety of skills gained from a public health degree are valuable across many professions, which allows me to combine with passion for improving healthcare with many future pathways like medical or law school. 

Advice for future students: My advice to future students is to stay open to new opportunities. I know when I came to college it was easy to stress out about what the future will hold and what long-term career I'd have 30 years from now. Many people come to college with their whole lives planned out, but if you're like me and have no clue, there is no reason to be alarmed.  College is a time to figure out what you like and more importantly what you don't like. Don't hesitate to use the countless resources USC and the Arnold School of Public Health have to help you figure out the best academic path for you. Explore areas you are interested in and seek guidance from fellow students and USC staff.
